Nvidia CEO visits and aims to establish a branch in Vietnam
On the afternoon of December 9, the social networking page of the Giang coffee brand, famous for its egg coffee, shared a picture of Mr. Jensen Huang - CEO of Nvidia Corporation, enjoying a drink at the shop. Immediately after arriving in Vietnam, Mr. Huang did not hesitate to visit and enjoy Hanoi's popular drinks.
Immediately after that, many photos appeared on social networking sites showing Mr. Jensen Huang comfortably wearing jeans and a T-shirt, drinking beer, and enjoying sidewalk food at a restaurant in Hanoi's Old Quarter, with some friends. CEO Nvidia also did not forget to enjoy Vietnam's famous pho.
According to an announcement from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Mr. Jensen Huang and other senior leaders of Nvidia will have a working session at the National Innovation Center in Hoa Lac (Hanoi) on December 11. During this meeting, he will meet leaders of a number of ministries, cities, and high-tech zones in Vietnam, as well as representatives of a number of domestic technology corporations.
The meeting will focus on discussing "cooperation between Nvidia and Vietnam to promote the semiconductor industry," as well as the possibility of cooperation with domestic businesses.
During the meeting, Nvidia CEO appreciated the major changes taking place in Vietnam and expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of semiconductors, information technology, and artificial intelligence. He hopes that Vietnam can become an important base in Nvidia's production chain.
Jensen Huang is one of the founders of Nvidia, becoming a "star" in the semiconductor industry with the company's graphics chip models being sought after by many people. He, born in 1963 in Taipei, after many years living in Taiwan and Thailand, brought the company to the top with outstanding products. Nvidia, which struggled with its H100 production model in early 2022, bounced back with the rise of AI chips late last year, causing the company's market capitalization to increase from $400 billion in March. 1 reached 1,000 billion USD at the end of May.
Nvidia is a multinational technology company that designs graphics processing units (GPUs), application programming interfaces (APIs) for data science and high-performance computing, and systems on unit of chip for the mobile and automotive computing markets. There are many competitors, but NVIDIA is considered a very special company because other companies in the AI field all use NVIDIA products.
Up to now, NVIDIA has more than 27,000 employees globally, with revenue reaching nearly 27 billion USD. With the global AI fever, NVIDIA is increasing its AI chip production plan for 2024 by more than 3 times and the group's revenue is expected to increase a lot in the near future.
Vietnam, which is home to large chip assembling factories including Intel's biggest globally, is trying to expand into chip designing and possibly chip-making as trade tensions between the United States and China create opportunities for Vietnam in the industry.
The chipmaker has already partnered with Vietnam's leading tech companies to deploy AI in the cloud, automotive, and healthcare industries.
