2023 is designated as the National Year of Digital Data. Creating a model for collecting, connecting, and data ensuring information security, and exploiting data to serve strategy building, operations, and decision-making in urban management is the concern of all central and local governments.

Vietnam - Asia Smart City Conference 2023 has the theme "Data mining - Building smart cities, sustainable development". The program is built with 09 workshops divided into 03 thematic routes:

Topic 1. Government, People, and Businesses. Aiming to share opinions and experiences in building mechanisms and developing smart cities to create a smarter, more efficient, and more convenient living environment for people and businesses, not to build a digital city instead of real cities.

Topic 3. Cooperation and Development. Aiming to promote cooperation and technology development, developing solutions to help solve specific and urgent problems of urban areas.
Many experiences in cooperation in exploiting digital data and enforcement mechanisms of urban areas such as Jakarta - Indonesia, Hue, and Da Nang, as well as from implementation consulting units such as Viettel, VNPT, and FPT... have been shared. shall. Domestic and international experts and leaders introduced many smart platforms and solutions at the conference such as Cloud platforms, 5G solutions, IoT products, virtual assistants, AI in healthcare, smart traffic, and mobility has been introduced.

From that approach, based on the available infrastructure as well as the characteristics of each urban area in Vietnam, experts believe that there needs to be a roadmap for smartization and sustainable urban development. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung shared: “Smart city development is about implementing digital transformation within the scope and scale of the urban area but focusing on solving major urban problems including traffic, environment, energy, waste treatment, ensuring security, urban order, etc. And to achieve these contents in a systematic way, smart factors must be identified and calculated. and included right from urban and city planning. Localities must ensure a close connection with the local digital transformation process, without separation or duplication, all aiming to be people-centered.
